looking for recommendations - men's winter jackets
Hey i am looking for some advice for a winter jacket. Weather can get up to -30c but not that often. Mostly around -20c .
I do like parkas and bombers, but been struggling to find one i like on eu. I'd love it to be little more nice looking than just basic parka. Some that i liked had fur hood and buttons over zipper.

What is your budget?
It sounds like you are looking for "warm AND fashionable". When I asked a similar question, someone recommended this, but I have not personally tried it: https://www.alphaindustries.com/products/mjn31000c1-n-3b-parka-heritage-m?variant=32275824541751

Like 400 max. I do't like the desing tested it before and send it back, the fur is massive in person, when you zipper that jacket fully you will need a giraffe neck to see anything
400 euro or pounds i take it?
the one thing ill say is that if you're hitting -20c, you're going to want function over form and might have to compromise
Someone already dropped an AI link, but I like the look and fit and borrowed a friend's for a week trip to Montreal in the middle of winter. I prefer the slim fit version, though. https://www.alphaindustries.com/products/mjn31210c1-mens-slim-fit-n-3b-parka
This has kept me warm enough in -15C, though if dropped colder you'd need to layer pretty smart with a thick sweater. The mistake I made was with my footwear. Parka did the trick, but I didn't have insulated/lined boots and my feet froze.

Yeah, I agree that at -15C, I prioritize function over fashion. Also, your comment about the importance of keeping your feet warm is right on. At that temp I wear long underwear and extra thick smartwool ski socks, in addition to a down parka.
Are you from Finland? Tbh when I lived in Northern Norway I didn't actually dress all that different from other places in Northern Europe, just with a couple more layers. I would often wear a nice but light oversized mac coat over my Arcteryx insulated hooded jacket, to improve my outfit. I also lived in bigger town, so too many layers or a jacket that was too thick was also annoying, especially when having to run errands entering and leaving buildings.
However, Tromsø usually only gets to around -20c at worst. Footwear was actually a much bigger issue for me as well!
If you want something trad looking, perhaps you should get a OG thick sheepskin pilot jacket. They are usually very expensive though; much cheaper on the secondhand market.

Yea i am from finland. People usually take -20 to 30c too seriously. But if it's windy you are fucked eitherway
Btw if you have issues with cold foot. Try woolsocks it will work like magic. Or get timberlands with fur inside
Yeah, I did that. First I had to get some winter boots with enough space inside so that I could wear thick wool socks.
Hmm i think i am going to give N-3b slim a shot. Khaki or black?
Khaki!
Does anyone happen to have the eu slim version? N3B VF 59, it is a little different but i am worried about the hood. That fur hood looks hella massive on this version
I learned the hard way that if you're outside for an extended period of time in <-15C weather, especially at night, even wool socks will be hard pressed to keep you warm. Unless maybe they're extremely thick. My Montreal friends had insulated winter boots (Blundstones were popular, with a fur lined footbed) which made all the difference.
I got myself a pair of Diemme boots, then added a felt footbed, and wore one thin and one thick pair of socks. That was usually fine for me. I also knew people who wore insulated boots, that looked a bit like bean boots, but for me at least that was a bit too overkill.
I got these myself. Most of the time you will have extra sweaty feet. Also they don't make my size so i have to wear thick socks (mine just had white fur and red shoe laces) https://www.boozt.com/fi/fi/timberland/6-in-premium-fur-warm-lined-boot_27653852/212665440?localLanguage=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA3aeqBhBzEiwAxFiOBvSpd0jlrlfal3T17CWkQ18yV3diFCWvnjAWRgANsGVaocCSBOeN7BoCcVkQAvD_BwE
