Mod Organizer 2 only works through "Run exe through prefix", but not when launching a selected exe

I ran the installer no program, and then selected the executable in the "Add App/Game" settings. When I click launch, a dialogue box pops up saying "critical files" are missing possibly due an "antivirus" (which I don't have). But if I drag and drop the same exe file in the "run exe through prefix" option, the program runs perfectly fine. Both are using the same wine prefix. Does selecting the exe in "Edit App/Game" settings work differently than the "run exe on prefix" option? Using the latest Pop-OS and Heroic versions.
