AWould you recommend to use rhino with an 20cm extension, 10cm extension or no extension at all?
AMostly the extension should be whatever best suits your setup, but the longer your stick is, the more stress you put on the motors for lesser maximum strength
Aalso do note that the rhino basically comes with a built-in extension and is very tall compared to most bases, so it's probably going to require less extending compared to whatever you've been using so far

Fnote that the rotational axis is around the middle of the large pulley
FWith a 5cm extension I get a realistic Y axis throw distance. With a 70% limiter in the X axis it's great. Plenty of power too. If you use a longer extension you will also need to limit the throw angle.

MRhino software for working with DirectInput native ff from game. Telemetry derives ff signals from craft telemetry so you can have ff where devs don’t specifically support it
FBasically to get the most of you Rhino you will use the configurator to customize your settings and telem to add more effects than what the game natively gives you.
IIs there a general location to see the step files for the vp rhino base?
Athis isn't true -- games can set effects like damper/friction/periodic effects. It's just that most don't out of the box so we rely on telemffb
Athe DCS F14 module for example does actually quite a good job out of the box, the only thing it really lacks is like engine vibrations and what not
NYea this thing is a beast. Went from a msffb with the resistor mod (power doubles) with a modded stick grip to the rhino. I thought the rhino would be twice the power in reality its about 5-10 times better than the modded one I had and at most half a millimetre of play at the top of my grip I have on it. Tldr if you can afford one get it.

CHave any of you tried the Rhino as a side stick for F16/Space games? Is it easy to switch configs between a shorter throw side stick and long throw center stick? Like, with the Rhino software?

BI'm not even sure you can get decent telemetry from elite so I would expect it to work like a very tuneable joystick.
FI'd assume telemffb would allow the joystick to work as a normal spring/friction based joystick
Band that would be the absolute worst case scenario. It will absolutely work like an excellent stick at minimum.

CYeah I wouldn’t expect any FFB, but I don’t like long throw extensions for space games. I’m have to try it and see if there is a way to switch configs with the software end stops
Nyou can export as many different configurator setups as you want and load them manually in the configurator or you can load them programmatically by passing
-config path/to/config.vpconf to the exe
OIt goes fast. I wasn’t expecting mine until next year, but so many folks dropped out of the queue that mine came up MUCH faster than I expected.
BI moved up about 70 spots but it's been a few months since its stabilised. And by my guess, maybe next June.

JThat's my same setup. Is there something I forgot to do?
FYour turn off the spring and all effects. Then change the values in the balance spring settings until you can move and release the stick in any position and it stays there. Since the weight distribution is off center you need that. My setup is front heavy so it helps with that.
FOnce you have that done reenable all your settings and it will work much better.

JEnded up getting negative values of about 3% front and around 10% rear. Gets a bit weird when it changes over the mid point. Other than that works great now!
