Add water resistance to this nylon jacket?

I bought this jacket and I love it but I wonder if there's a nylon-friendly wax/spray I could use on it to make it water resistant? I don't want to hurt the jacket though so I'll err on the side of caution if there's doubt... https://www.ralphlauren.com/brands-double-rl-men-shop-all-cg/quilted-twill-western-overshirt/648452.html

I suppose you could try waxing it But that feels ill advised

so nylon can hold up to light rain, if its raining hard enough that you need it actually waterproof I'd rather have a jacket that has a hood also probably best not to mess with a $495 jacket if you havent done it before

that makes sense. it's not a huge deal really, more just curious than anything as I've never researched the question before I assume it will be fine for short walks through light rain

There are spray on and wash-in DWR, but if you really wanted repellency spray-on may be the way to go. You could get the outer coated and leave the interior untreated. Brands that you can consider are: Grainger and Nikwax. Wax itself would be recommended if the twill was cotton based instead of nylon. Re: other comments - it’s better to use a jacket dedicated for rain or an umbrella if you need serious repellency rather than change a jacket into something it wasn’t meant to withstand.

A spray on DWR will work and won't do any harm, at worst might change the colour a little. It won't work well for that long though.
