Legal entitiy / entities for PauseAI
Having a legal entity is essential for receiving funds. It also helps in setting up a governance structure and making the cause sustainable.
I think we'll probably need multiple entities, since we're working internationally. This could make processes like hiring employees far less complicated. Still, it makes sense to have a central / coordinating body.
I think it's a good idea to do this in the Netherlands. Firstly because I live there and it seems like a logical thing to do for me, but also because some other NGO's also put their legal HQ in the Netherlands (e.g. Greenpeace).
I'm thinking of creating an 'ANBI stichting' which is a non-profit legal entity that is exempt from taxes. It's the go-to structure for It does not have to do with membership like a 'vereniging' does.
We now have an NL, US, and UK entity!
