TWhy does the workers runtime not allow fetch requests to IP addresses?
Vdoes workers have a documentation section for doing stuff like Handlebars templating (or even just having a separate HTML file that you can read from?)

LIf my next js backend that I deploy as a worker reads env vars from process.env, are they loaded at compile time or run time?

LBecause I'm wondering why my github action failed with the error that my custom env var couldn't be read

HNo. When uploading a Worker, it will initialize it once to make sure it can start up. Here, you see it erroring because it expects an OpenAI key that isn’t there

Btw, I had to disable automatic deployment for my project because my project was generated from a template that uses GH actions to deploy.
But that means, the normal URL to access my deployed website is not working, i.e. main.<project>.pages.dev isn't working, only some hash as subdomain (instead of "main"), which changes with every deployment.
How can I make the URL work even when automatic deployment is disabled?
So that that domain always points to the latest preview deployment?

HDisabling GitHub CI deployments shouldn’t disable the domain. Do you see any deployments to the main branch?

HThe subdomain on Pages is based on the branch you are on. If you don’t have a main branch, you won’t have a main subdomain
