Do Tan Chinos work with a navy suit?
I'm going to a "formal" Christmas party (it's just a bunch of my friends and we decided to make it formal dress for the fun of it so not super serious).
The chinos are more comfy than my suit pants (edit: suit pants are gray. Dont have my navy ones), but i know little about what color/type pants go with different color suits. I got a bowtie I might wear as well if that changes anything

This wouldn’t work for an actual formal event, but should be fine for the kind of thing you’re describing 😀
I agree, this is fine for a fun party with friends. Outside of this context, suit jackets generally shouldn't be worn without the matching pants.
Funny thing is, I actually like my navy pants the best, but I left them at my sister's house 3 hours away. So it's either my gray suit pants or the chinos
