Alien Breed Impact (GOG Version) not starting
As the title says I'm trying to launch Alien Breed Impact (GOG Version) from the Heroic Games Launcher on a Steam Deck and it is not starting. After a short time I only get a Wine Program Error window.
I tried to install the physx package with winetricks because I read it on ProtonDB but that didn't change the outcome.
Anyone knows how to get this game running on a Steam Deck?

try this , i was able to make it work , but yeah , didt really play it , cause performace issues on my pc

I did already try this but it didn't really change the outcome.
This is how I installed physx:
1. Enter the Alien Breed Impact Settings
2. In the Wine section scroll down to the end
3. Click he winetricks button
4. Enter physx in the search bar
5. Press install
Maybe you meant to do it differently

this is correct
try starting over, delete
/home/deck/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/Alien Breed Impact, then do those steps to install physx, also disable the Game Mode option in the game's settings for now
also make sure to first try in desktop mode (in case you were trying in gaming mode)conscious-sapphireOP•2y ago
Thanks for your suggestions. I just followed the tips of @arieljuod but unfortunately it didn't change a thing. I still get the same wine program error window but I noticed that there are a lot of errors during installation of physx

From my notes, when I tested this game (around Fabruary) I used Wine-GE-Proton7-37 and installed physx with winetricks and that was enough, maybe try with an older wine 7.x?

when i attempted , i needed to download a specific physx file and then install it via wine exe
but cant find the video

installing with winetricks should work just fine, using another installer wouldn't change the outcome (unless the installation with winetricks is failing for any reason and it's not actually installed?)

Thanks for all your help! The switch to an older wine version actually did the trick.
The latest wine 7.x version Wine-GE-Proton7-43 also works

I am trying to get Alien Breed Impact (GOG) to run on my Desktop using Heroic. It runs on my Notebook (that's why I'm pretty sure I'm using the correct settings). It runs on my Desktop if I use Lutris or Bottles (that's why I'm 100 % sure that it will run on the Desktop). I installed the physx DLL, I tried several Wine-Versions like Wine-GE-Proton7-37 or the one that works on the Notebook (Wine - Wine-GE-Proton8-27-Lol). Removed the prefix as well (many times) and re-installed physx DLL. On the Desktop there is an Nvidia and on the Notebook an AMD GPU. Is there anything that I have to install for an Nvidia GPU that is missing from Heroic but is included with Lutris and Bottles? Or any special setting I'm missing?

this game used to work for me like a year ago, now it's not working anymore (you need to install physx using winetricks)
don't use
...-LoL wine versions, those are for League of Legends

But it runs on my Notebook using Heroic out of the box (even with Wine-GE-Proton8-27-Lol). Do you use an Nvidia-GPU?

I tried it on another notebook - works as well - it's only my desktop. I don't get it. 😦
Now that's strange: I tried to do a fresh install (again) - deleted the prefix (again) - and after I installed physx there has been a message that there is an update - installed it and now it's working. 🥳

one tip, if you go to settings > advanced and turn on the

Ah, found it - which version of wine should I use as a default (if not the Lol one?) Proton-GE-Latest?
OK, "Verify and Repair" seems to do the trick: changed the wine version and it stopped working, applied the "Verify and Repair" option, now it's working again. 👍

wine-ge-proton is proton-ge-proton without fixes that only work for steam anyway and a few other changes, the creator of those wines recommends using wine-ge outside steam unless you have a reason not tolike-gold•2y ago
Should I use the "Wine-GE-latest" if it works and change all the games to use it? Or stick with a version once it runs with it?
