homing x axis homes y axis and visa versa

I just got my vcore 3.1 500 assembled and tried to home...ran into a bunch of problems, motors moving in the opposite direction than expected, that was easy to sort out. Where I'm at now is homing x axis moves the y axis and of course it fails because the x endstop is never triggered and this is true for y homing as well.
