Rocket League won't launch at all

Hi there, it's worked on my laptop in the past and actually ran decently but now it won't even launch. Any hints as to what I can change? Spent the whole day trying things out at this point. Thank you!

For some reason the configuration I'd previously used was with Proton Experimental. I remember it being a pain to setup in the past but the config I finally found worked without much stuttering at 30+ fps. For some reason a lot of users on ProtonDB are positive it works but mainly using the Steam version which is no longer accessible if you didn't alreeady have it in your inventory

Because I'm trying to launch it through epic games (and thus, heroic) I'm trying to use Wine GE as your guides states but nothing seems to be changing the outcome much, it always crashes at a similar-looking point in the logs (at least to my eyes)

Using other versions of Proton obviously doesn't work as it doesn't seem to have a steam id to latch onto. Still wondering why it worked before given that I never had the steam version to begin with

You're referring to these messages, correct?

Those aren't errors, Proton just doesn't log the actual errors (or anything, for that matter)

Try:

Switching to Wine-GE-latest
Deleting your Wineprefix

If that doesn't work, make sure your Wine dependencies and GPU drivers are installed

Yeah I did imagine the lacking specs of my machine might be an issue. I read somewhere on protondb that it helped massively to turn off the pre cacheing of shaders through steam as it would freeze whenever launching the game for the first time, but I don't have the steam version and I'm using heroic anyway...

Well, 6 gigs of idle usage isn't normal, so I'd start there. You can of course still setup Swap (although it'll be a lot slower than regular RAM of course)

Hahaha, it worked a year ago! I'm almost entirely sure it was on this same exact distro as rocket league and a few other games were still installed on this same laptop, I could be wrong though?

Right, it'll now think that -Nvapi is installed

Downloading https://github.com/jp7677/dxvk-nvapi/releases/download/v0.6.4/dxvk-nvapi-v0.6.4.tar.gz and extracting that into the folder you created should work, I'll try to get a PR out for this issue soon
