Denim washes + lightening a pair

Hey folks. Inspired by a styling suggestion thread, which blue denim washes are “in” at the moment? Or is this always going to be more contextual and down to individual preference? As a secondary q - I have a pair of Uniqlo u selvedge from ages ago that I haven’t really worn recently. I’d quite like to lighten them up a little bit to add something different to my wardrobe - what’s the best way to do this? Just wash them at a higher temp repeatedly?

Contextual but the mid point of the trend dial is probably leaning lighter to mid wash at the moment. Of course raws still have their niche and some aesthetics love black jeans etc.

Okay that’s cool! Good to know, thanks. That is what I suspected.

Wash with a little bleach (using the bleach pocket of your washing machine). Or soak in tub with a splash of bleach and swish around frequently. Rinse out while still darker than you want, since it will lighten a bit more when drying. Just don't cram them in a bucket of bleach water since that will result in uneven fades (ask me how I know)

Thanks - will give this a try tonight I think. Will be fun to see how they turn out regardless 😂 Might try it again at the weekend - put a few capfuls in the tub and then added a few more when I didn’t notice much of a change. Left it to soak for a fair while but after a wash in the machine they look pretty much the same 😂 Tbf I think I may have diluted it too much.
