Anyone use the Rhino or DIY kit with the F15E in DCS? How well does the Auto pilot work? I have the Brunner stick and the center is mushy enough to effect the AP.

Autopilot in the F-15E seems kind of wonky in general this patch, it likes to follow the trim rather than holding altitude. When it was working though, it held true, followed courses, didn't get flipped to ATT mode out of NAV or HDG

I have found the A/P's to work better with little to no Friction or Damping or Inertia. In the AV8B and F/A-18 anyway.

If you feel you've done all you can on the Rhino side, you can also add a slight deadzone in DCS axis. Used to do so in the FA18 but was able to dial in my settings in the Rhino software and removed the deadzone.

There's no way to do that easily. When you order the Rhino, you can ask Walmis to have a custom joystick socket angle, like 20 degrees to the left.

If you have a 3d printer or other diy capability I'd recommend making a diy kit. Walmis has expanded his team recently and pace has quickened, but it still seems to take a while

And I kinda have a theory that the lack of feedback on pedals (and stick too but most ppl think of their stick when it comes to FFB) is a big part of why spin recovery in DCS is so much easier than anecodotes seem to suggest. We let go our springed devices and they all center up. Let go of the pedals and stick of your bird in a spin and it probably will end up flopping with the wind, making it worse.

I opted to skip the limiter, its also something you can have 3d printed close by anyways if you want.

And so far I dont feel the need for one still, as I'm not using an extension.

By stock the rhino behave as if it has about a 10cm extension compared to other gimbals.

I have not felt the need for a limiter yet, but I will sure look for one sooner rather than later. Without an extension, the throw is quite good, but I have a part of my rig where the forward throw can bump into the rig itself.

good work m8 keep at it, you won't regret it, it's the single best investment I made for flight sim'ing, the difference between this & something good running cams, springs & dampners etc. is imho even greater than the difference between one of those bases & a logitech 3d pro. Also if you fly heli's then again imo it's even more game changing, warbirds benefit the next most followed by fbw. Good luck with the saving & keep at it!
