Kgamescope doesn't run in distrobox
VGamescope doesn't really work in distrobox, and even if it did it'd still rely on your GPU's drivers.
CIf you build a computer without a CPU, it won't break when you try to turn it on, it just won't turn on, until you put a compatible CPU in it

VExactly, and in Nvidia's driver there is no code to handle game mode. It won't "break" it won't work to begin with.

Developer Faith Ekstrand has given a holiday update on the state of NVK, the unofficial open source NVIDIA Vulkan driver and how it's coming along that's worth a read as it's all quite exciting.
CAlso: NVK is limited to Turing and newer architectures
C10XX and earlier GPUs may be supported eventually, after everything else is on par with or better than the proprietary drivers

KNVK depends on GSP to do clock speed changes, GSP only supports 16xx and 20xx+
Kanyone with a 10xx card, with NVK, would be permanently stuck at the lowest clock speed
