not sure why you need to boot into desktop mode at least once, and return to game mode from there, but the workaround fixed the problem for the user who reported the issue

Just FYI, Displaylink is basically emulates a video card over USB, USB DP alt mode is a completely different thing as is not an emulation, is a DP link directly from your iGPU
