I've worn jeans, solid color dress pants and chinos my whole life. Introduce me to some patterns?
Can I get a primer on pants with patterns? Nothing too crazy...are there "timeless" patterns?
Happy to accept store recommendations popular and obscure, $0 - ~$200

plaid is a classic, either a windowpane or glen plaid - j.crew, sale todd snyder, and ebay
pinstripe and (subtle) stripes can work, moreso as part of a suit - same brands as above, sometimes banana republic too
I'm not sure if it counts as a pattern but herringbone to me is easiest to wear
Also my problem with j crew and Todd Snyder dress slacks is that they are very tapered
i was gonna say herringbone and other textures are an option - tweed, cords, flannel
I'd take a look at polo Ralph Lauren patterned wool slacks on eBay at least for some inspo
Some real interesting slacks out there
most of the traditional 'ivy' brands - polo ralph lauren, brooks brothers, spier and mackay, etc - will also have good offering but you may have to go secondhand
Herringbone! TY...that will work really well for me
I'll send you a close up pic of my herringbone wool h freeman slacks!
@dothario 🏴 Benji has good advice that herringbone is a good pattern to wear, because it's subtle and offers interesting texture. Similar textures to look for in odd trousers include flannels, donegals, and slubby linens. IMO Glen checks/plaids, other plaids, and windowpane patterns don't make great odd trousers because they can look like pajamas in casual outfits, or, if worn with sport coats can make you look like one of those #menswear influences from 2012
