Hello! I'm wearing a 38S Ralph Lauren sport. How is the fit, especially on the shoulders?
Luckily I can absolutely return this and get a full refund if this doesn't fit. I have a feeling it's a little on the large side but I want some input. But I wonder if I should size down to a 36S or 34S. I bought this sport coat from ebay and I can return it if it doesn't fit. The reason why the sleeves are too short on the sport coat is because they were shortened. There is stitching inside the sleeves that can be undone.

I made the mistake of buying a suit that was too large recently. I got it secondhand since someone else bought me the suit jacket so I bought the pants. I just wanna learn what my size it to know for next time. I'm selling the suit and I plan to get one that fits by the summer.
I'm open to tailoring suggestions too if anything can be tailored. I also plan to start going to the gym soon as well
These pics aren't great but the sleeves are absurdly short and you should return
tough to tell much of anything else tbh. Need pics from further away to see the whole jacket
Yeah they are lol but they have stitching inside which makes me think that they were shortened and not originally this short. I'll try to take better photos next time
They might be able to be let back out in that case then
I'm a short guy but I fit into 32/33 sleeves weirdly enough
Yeah that's what I was thinking
Need a full length shot, but based on the button stance and pockets I would guess this is overall too short for you.
The whole jacket, or just the sleeves
I'm 5'4 btw
I can take a pic from further away
Whole jacket, but like has been said Hard to say without a full length shot.
Ignore the messy room lol
But here's a further away stance
too large for sure, but also what cdf said the button stance is too high. I'd see what a 36R and 34R look like
Yeah I think 38 is too big too and I'll be returning this to the seller
I just needed an outside perspective too
Is your shoulder bone near the shoulder seam at all? that's the main bit
I mean yeah but I could size down a size because it sticks out a little bit. Since i'm 5'4 I wanna stick to shorter length jackets. I think this particular RL jacket just didn't work for me.
But luckily I can return it
Like is this where your shoulder bone is?
No
Er the line moved on me
A bit further out than that
I'll try to draw where it is
i think that's accurate
The jacket seam is a little past my shoulder bone but not by a huge amount. Probably .5-1
okay yeah I'd go down maybe one size and try the R size as well
It's hard to illustrate accurately but I could definitely size down
1" is basically a mile
Yeah definitely.
I've never really asked for fashion advice before but I'm getting into fashion and wanting to dress nicer. I hope I can find this jacket in a smaller size because I love the pattern
Thank you for the advice though
Check on ebay for various stuff if you're on a budget. Generally you can use pretty wide search terms and find a few gambles with some scrolling
eBay

Yeah I use second hand apps all the time to find stuff I like. I also use depop, poshmark, and mercari. I'm glad ebay has a good return policy because I would have hated to not get my money back
Awesome!
I got the RL jacket for pretty cheap like $35
$95 is a little out of my price range right now because I'm broke in college lol.
What do you think of the length on a 38R jacket I was wearing? I know size 38 is too big for me, but does the length look better on the R jacket?
Trying to determine if I should try regular jacket length or stick to short
A smaller size will also change the length. Also relaxed pose pictures are really the only way to determine solid fit for tailoring
Alright sounds good
