Question: using telem is it possible to combine hitting the trim button in the Apache virtually combined with having the stick actually trim correctly

Reason I ask is for SAS inputs and how closely trim works with the different "auto/hold" modes. Requiring some participation with the ingame trim button in DCS on the cyclic

I don’t fly the Apache. I have it, but I’ve never done more than fart around the pattern with it.

What does the virtual stick do in response to trimming and SAS inputs? I assume your talking about trim other than normal force trim.

In general though…DCS is severely lacking in exportable telemetry at the aircraft system level.

The AFCS implementation for the MSFS H145/160 works well because there is data available to emulate the trimming motors and the developer provided hooks for me to be able to send specific events so the heli knows when a user is overriding the stick position.

I think the SAS in the Apache is mixed in after the cyclic (and pedals/collective) input, so you as the pilot don’t feel the controls move with SAS interactions

I think Carlos is right. For the Apache, leave the force trim settings in VPConfig alone and use the DCS keybinds. You can't use curves on your stick axes with a FFB stick or it gets all weird.

I recommend flying with that on for a while when you first start with the Apache to get a feel for what the SAS is doing so you can stop fighting it and work with it.

When in doubt just hold the trim hat up and it disables the SAS and lets you take full control

FFB is pretty magical with the Apache. I flew with a clutched stick for a hundred hours before I got my Rhino. Now all the weird trim stuff makes perfect sense!

Yup, I never even have that so like the trim “ratcheting” I had to do with a normal unextended stick sucked before lol

Yeah, Apaché with FFB is magic. Tap-tap-tap that trimmer and you'll be performing amazing feats. A bit of damper in the Vpforce software is all I use, but keep gain at 80ish percent for centering force

The hind and mi8 are very similar, you gotta hold the trim and tap the trim to have the SAS help you get to where you want vs fighting you to keep the prior attitude

Finally rejigged the 'pit and rotated the rhino with the cut off switch way from me ( rather than tucked under the seat!) but with the extension I have it is obviously reversed. so... I thought, lets rotate the Rhino ' thrustmaster' connector round by 180... I'm a bit wary as there did not appear to be much slack in the cabling - so put it back together and asking here.

TLDR- can I swap the rhino joysitck connecter 180 and is there enough cable to pull it out to do so ?

I had 260 to go in the beginning of December (before that production was slower), and now at 4. Your SN will go down a lot as people will drop from the queue. So at current rate you're looking at about 6 months.

I ordered in July and had something like 390 in the queue ahead of me at that time. SN went down from 552 to 383 overall. But production was quite slow until ~December, so I wouldn't look before that for any relevant statistics.

X-Plane Support for TelemFFB

A new version of TelemFFB with support for X-Plane 11/12 has dropped! Head over to https://discord.com/channels/965234441511383080/1093558100713279508 to grab the latest version or use the auto-updater in your existing TelemFFB install.

This implements the last remaining piece to make TelemFFB a true replacement for legacy software like the now defunct XPForce. If you don't play X-Plane, sorry for the ping...this will probably be the last time I ping any roles for a TelemFFB update!

The X-Plane implementation uses the same TelemFFB effects library as MSFS, so all of the same capabilities exist including:
- All haptic effects
- Dynamic Control Forces
- Helicopter Force Trim
- Trim following **
- Autopilot following (fixed wing only) **
- DIY FFB Pedal support
- DIY Collective support

** Unlike MSFS, you do not need to unbind your axes in X-Plane

To enable X-Plane, simply enable the checkbox in the settings page and tell TelemFFB where your X-Plane install folder is. Enable the 'Auto X-Plane setup''Auto X-Plane setup' checkbox and TelemFFB will install the telemetry export plugin into your X-Plane install directory.

After installing the plugin, when you start X-Plane you will see the plugin listed in the X-Plane menu if everything is working as designed
