how to combine ivy and gorp?
My wardrobe has been trending ivy, but I still want to incorporate some technical garments, especially hiking boots. Any advice or inspo on how to make the two styles work together?

Salomon XT-6s are kind of ubiquitous now but that’s because look hard with almost anything
That's a pretty common combo in the "neo-prep" style that's been popular the past couple of years. I think a lot in #waywt will be along those lines depending on the user tbh
Gorp + Ivy is basically the entire premise of the brand Nanamica so I recommend checking their IG and lookbooks out for inspo
This is evil to tell someone asking this question
i think vintage hiking pics thread the needle well - collared shirts, anoraks, fleece, higher waisted pants and then rendered with more modern hiking shoes or accessories
Anyway, Nanamica is a great rec for this thing, maybe checkout engineered garments as well as i think they have some crossover
lookbooks
here's my lone attempt lol
I think the beauty of the ocbd is that it can look good when paired with just about any style so I would start there and try combining it with gorpier items
North Face Purple Label as well maybe? Thats a Japan only brand but you should still be able to find their lookbooks, but they don't sell outside of Japan
North Face Purple Label looks perfect. I’ll have to start a new inspo album
I was trying to be helpful 😔
i know but its not easy to pull XT-6s off in an Ivy fit lmao
Gimme a couple days imma do it
bet
Also fleece popovers
Is there a name for that style of boot?
It's modeled after older hiking boots
search for danner mountain pass, diemme roccia, fracap m120, paraboot avoriaz
Pretty sure those are avoriaz. Pretty expensive for what they are.
But they have a nicer silhouette than most
Viberg hikers are really nice and show up on eBay often.
Hiker or euro hiker or European hiker. Brands listed above are all good options
echoing nanamica, i also quite like white mountaineering and their styling
but yeah, i do like vintage hiker fits as inspo, since they usually had a few technical/field pieces thrown over every day stuff like jorts or ocbds
Nanga also another good brand to check out
Not sure if it’s exactly what you’re going for, but a lot of vintage ‘gorp’ stuff looks great with ivy. Check out this blog post for inspo: http://oxfordclothbuttondown.com/2023/11/people-watching-charlie-dont-surf/

Heavy Duty Ivy | Rugged Ivy | 70s Prep Style | OCBD Blog
This week I am back with another installment of people watching. Although he longer posts this UK based all-around cool guy who goes by Charlie don’t surf on IG (see here) continues to give me inspiration. Specifically he gives me fall/winter inspo with his casual-leaning-heavy-duty-rugged-ivy style mixing trad, ivy, and old school/new school go...
I might try to put together a larger inspo album on this tbh, if anyone wants to throw in recos hit me up!
