London Recommendations - Food/Drink Mainly

Will be travelling to London for a few days in a couple of weeks time and looking for any recommendations for food and drink spots. Open to any type of food however my partner is gluten free so if you know any good places that are either gluten-free or accommodate dietary requirements that would be great. Also feel free to drop any clothing spots that are worth visiting, I mainly wear denim/workwear/americana style of clothes. I may or may not be in the market for some new trainers so if there are any shops that stock new balance that would also be cool. Thanks!

I will recommend Dishoom as it was recommended to me when I went last summer. My partner is gluten free and had several options. Great Indian food.

Seconding Dishoom. Great vibes and great food there.

Bleecker Burger is pretty lit. For basic clothing just go to a Westfield Mall.

Not lived in London for a while but I get down there for work. Clutch Cafe for workwear/americana clothing if you're feeling rich. Lahore Kebab House isnt fancy looking but its incredibly good and only locals really know about it. Beigel Bake sadly not gluten free but the best bagels I've had, on par with NYC

Dishoom is always good. If you do much cooking at home I'd recommend picking up one of their spice boxes, some really nice fresh masala blends in there. I haven't tried but I've been told that its also good for breakfast! They also have a whole GF section on their menu. By the way if you go and you like it theres one in Edinburgh too. Ottolenghi was also good, and is definitely GF friendly. Got great breakfast at Amber Restaurant last time I was there, the burnt aubergine was particularly good. Brick Lane/Shoreditch area will be good for both clothes and food/drink

Seconding brick lane and surrounds. You could hit Son of a stag, YMC, MHL all within walking distance, plus all the vintage shops. Theres even a dishoom round the corner and that bagel spot! Goodhood for louder brands is fun and also not too far from there Lahore kebab house already was mentioned. There’s also a place nearby called Tayyabs with a similar vibe. Theres an amazing Somali place called Al Kahf round there too that I would highly recommend (cheap too) If you want more fancy (pricey) food recommendations around that part of east London, check out Rochelle Canteen, Morito, St John bread and wine, Braun

They have diverged alright, wasn't it someone from Dishoom who started Tayyabs

I went to Dishoom last time I was in London and was severely impressed by how it functions like a well-oiled machine. There was like a 45 min queue but we got hot chai in the line outside (very welcome in January in London) and got a seat for a drink after like 10 minutes. The service the whole time was great and everything felt so effortless, I had never seen anything like it. Not to mention the food and cocktails were also superb Maybe this is just how it works in London. In Amsterdam, where I work, service has become horrible since covid and I can't even imagine a place functioning like this
