in general it's when a garment becomes gradually thinner or narrower towards the bottom or end of the garment
it's usually in the context of pants/jeans where the legs will get narrower towards the leg openings
can normal pants get tapered?
Yeah! any pants can be tapered by a tailor (and it's an easy enough alteration to do yourself if you want to get into sewing) but you gotta be careful about how high you start the taper and how it'll affect the rest of the fit
can start to get caught on your calves if you taper too much
most times yes; different fabrics may be more difficult to handle though
i see
is it still in trend? i've watched some videos saying baggy is whats trendy nowadays
trends are specific to communities, and i'd say this one isn't super into tapered pants
I like them a lot
the trend is towards wider or regular fit but that shouldn't stop you if you enjoy wearing it
36" waist with a 7.5-8" hem looks great to me on my body
I also like some pants with a 9.5" hem
just depends on mood
i see, i think where i live i seem to see tighter fits and as a guy thats shorter and slimmer i feel baggy pants don't fit me that well
the most recent #theme-waywt focused on slim and skinny fit and some of those were more tapered than anything
just as a counterpoint there are plenty of posters who are probably a similar build to you and wear baggy clothing well
but you just gotta like what you see in the mirror
that usually ends up making you feel much better than following any trend someone on the internet is talking about
that is true, but i wonder if people will judge that i'm wearing outdated trends
some people might, but usually those people aren't worth wasting your emotion on. How often are you looking around thinking "hmm, I like that guys outfit, but it's definitely not trendy"
fashion has become such a wide fun playground over the last couple years you know
where i'm from guys don't really dress well in the first place so you have a point
narrow boy here: three recent pics for comparison, one slim, one tapered, one wide
fit is a matter of preference and as long as you enjoy it, who cares what everyone else says
is the outdoors one wide?
they all look good on him
Those are pictures of zeometer
oh
(zeo also just makes everything look good imo)
Look thru #waywt there’s a lot of variety
if that us the bar you'd definitely enjoy stuff from gsh or bbshams
what are those
posters
ohh
Other usernames
Thought this said “posers” for a second lmao
I would def have to post fit
and I'm wearing the exact same thing as last time I talked shit
they seem to wear wide/straight fits often?
how do i tell the difference between wide and straight
you get to decide
some things that used to look wide to me don't look wide anymore
it does depend on the person
They are not exclusive
and honestly the brand too; one company may bill something as a "wide" fit that is considered "straight by another
You can have slim straight, wide straight, and in between
oh
so it depends on the person wearing
To some degree yes
I’d just look at the silhouette and see what you do or don’t like about it more than anything else
i see
And like was said above if you like more taper do and wear what makes you happy
I personally find straighter and wider fits to be more comfortable and easier to wear
any advice for sock length? i wear black chinos with NMDs and stan smiths with these joggers
Hmmm usually people either wear no shoes/sockless or crew socks. I feel like no shows are kinda out of trend tho
sickles?
lol fixed
oh
i think the ones i've been wearing are quarter, ped or liner based on this
i was thinking no shows do seem out of trend but seeing socks when wearing sneakers and long pants just kinda doesn't sit well with me
Hm maybe try longer pants then?
Post some fits to #styling-suggestions
Ah ok will do that tomorrow when i go out
99% of people won’t give a shit. The other 1% of people aren’t worth paying attention to - wear what you enjoy wearing
I... Wanna wear what i think looks good on me as well as when other people agree
"good" is subjective in fashion
even if you have a fit that you consider great or that people on the internet say is great there's a chance someone else will disagree; you can't control how people think about your clothes
but yeah, post fits in #styling-suggestions
Right
Do people tend to wear nmds for causal/going out or for exercise?
short answer yes and yes
you would better be served by making a new thread to ask about nmds
I see
I'm afraid of making too many threads
threads are free and they help other folks since they're searchable later. It's better to make more threads for different questions
