Need advice as a big man in a hot area
So I went to an event the other day and the guy who runs it likes to take pictures and share them afterwards. Problem is, I looked awful in the picture, not in any way that was his fault. My chest (moobs?) and belly were very visible. I did not realize I looked like that, I did not like it. Anyway, I'd like to look a bit better. These things are fairly casual, I'd look out of place wearing my suit, but I wouldn't mind looking a little nicer (let's say button up shirt level of formality?). Some context about my body, I'm 6'3 and, let's say 300 lbs (I don't trust my scale anymore because there is no way I lost 30 lbs). So the solution is probably dark clothes, thick fabrics, and multiple layers, right? But I live in South Texas, it gets quite hot here. It's not even spring yet and it was 90° earlier. If I wear that, I'm sure I'd look great, but I'd also melt. I look up summer clothes, because winter here may as well be summer I guess, but also planning ahead, and the internet says light fabrics and light colors, which is probably what caused this problem in the first place. I'm not sure what to do because all the clothes I want to wear will melt me.

Want to do a quick thread on how to dress if you're a larger guy. There's not a lot of info or inspiration online about this, and I feel this leads people to think that they don't have options or can't dress well bc of their body type.

Good advice but I'm not sure how to combine it with hot weather
To boil it down and extrapolate before I pass out here, the gist is to find clothes that fit proportionally better on larger body types — my suggestion is that hot weather clothing is generally looser, which can work in your favor in that regard.
Id take a look at higher waist linen trousers, wearing some more straight/loose cut shirts over more fitted undershirts, and experimenting more so with materials and fit than color pallets
Could peruse David’s instagram for some more inspo, though it’s a little lacking in warm weather fits. The reality is that when it’s hot AF, it’s hot AF. You’re going to sweat your ass off in 95+F weather regardless of what you’re wearing.

Hmm... Maybe black linen pants, white cotton undershirt, and black buttoned linen shirt on top? Even though it's 2 layers, the fact that it's linen and cotton can maybe keep me cool, and then the extra layer can help hide nipples and whatnot? Is that a good idea?
My brother that sounds amazing. You could leave the shirt unbuttoned even truthfully, layers tend to look a little more interesting
You could find some really amazing elasticated waist trousers these days too. I found it always helps with my comfort in the summer to not NEED a belt
I like the way elastic waistbands feel more than belts, but I also don't like my phone pulling my pants down. Do people wear suspenders between an undershirt and button shirt?
Hmmm. That can happen yeah. Would you consider wearing a bag to put your phone/wallet in? To the suspenders point, probably not super common. If it’s comfortable for you you should! But also be mindful that if you do take your collared shirt off, you’ve just got suspenders and a undershirt on
Also, if you post some pictures of summer outfits you did like I’m sure people would be happy to point you in the right direction 🙂
I'm not against a bag, but I know nothing about male bags besides backpack, which is a bit overkill for a wallet and phone.
I don't think I'd take the shirt off, but even if I did, I honestly don't dislike the way an undershirt and suspenders look. Not something I'd try to go out wearing, but if something caused me to have to remove the outer shirt, I wouldn't think I look bad

Totally! I was thinking maybe more of a simple canvas tote bag. It can be nice to not have all your stuff on ur person when it’s that hot.
That’s awesome then ya! If you like the suspenders look then buttoning up and tucking in the shirt would be great. Tbh ur idea of a linen/open collar shirt with a white under shirt and flowy black linen pants is awesome and fool proof
Don’t mention it. I grew up in Vegas so I know how tough it can be to want to look good and have clothes feel so miserable on account of the heat
Looked up "canvas tote bag", seems like a bit much for me, no offense. If I have something holding my parts good, I think pockets will be fine.
As for suspenders, I'm not sure how to do it with a black shirt. Or dark tones in general. With my suit, I have the simple dark on light thing, but light on dark might be too much?
Suspenders are not really something intended to be viewed. Classically, they’re usually considered underwear.
For summer fits, I’d probably skip suspenders and look at smaller cross body bags, or just wear a belt
Makes sense. Not sure how I'd combine them with a dark colored shirt anyway.
Do you have any search term recommendations or anything for bags?
Unfortunately no. My three bags are an LL bean boat n tote, a lulu lemon crossbody, and a Patagonia backpack — most of the time I end up with one of those 3, or none at all, so I’m not the best resource for accessorizing
