About the initiative So, what's the initiative all about? Imagine a journey across Europe for a letter—a letter filled with demands and questions that PauseAI wishes to present to the European Parliament. With your help, we aim to send this letter on a grand tour, gathering signatures and support from relevant organizations such as unions and professors along the way.
But that's not all. Simultaneously, we're launching an online petition, which we'll continuously promote each time the letter gains attention in an EU country. Our goal? To amass as many signatures as possible and compel the EU to listen to our concerns about the ethical implications of AI technology.
In each country, we'll strive to garner as much media attention as possible for our important story about halting AI development and reconsidering the trajectory of technology for maximum reach. This initiative is in response to the European Parliament elections on June 6, 2024, and it's our chance to shape the dialogue and future policies surrounding AI in Europe.
What is the end goal? Our ultimate aim is to deliver the letter, packed with signatures that has traveled trough all 27 member-states, to the European Parliament's secretariat on June 5, the day before the elections. With your support and participation, we can make this initiative a success and pave the way for a future where technology serves humanity ethically and responsibly.
