How to fade black jeans?
So I bought this plain black pair of Levi 501s that fit rally nicely. The only problem is that the black is a little too black - I know that sounds stupid - which creates more contrast than I would like.
Would it be possible for me to make them a few shades lighter? I really like how the black jeans in this photo look like.

I dunno...you can get some ideas if you Google "how to fade jeans". But personally I'd just wear them a lot and wash them regularly.
Thanks!
Yeah fading like that comes from years of wear. If you want that look now buy a used pair.

or maybe get the jeans that are already in the wash/shade that you like? it wouldnt necessarily have to be a used pair
most black jeans ive owned were slow faders so it'd take a while to get them to naturally fade
i've actually got two pairs in my closet now that are like 4-5 years old and they both still look new
leave em on the roof in the sun
might just be me but i think a lot of washed black denim looks kinda bad and artificial. it's way harder to fake than indigo in my experience. i'd just look for a vintage pair, you can usually find a cheap one if you wait
fair point
Make sure to machine wash black denim inside out though, sometimes they end up oddly marbled when machine washed otherwise.
using the gentle setting and/or skipping the spin cycle also helps prevent the marbling. that goes for raws too
No I totally agree, Iβm impatient and donβt want to wait for my jeans to naturally fade
