Possible alterations on casual shirts?

Can shirts with stripes/ patterns be shortened or altered? Will it affect or throw off the overall look of the shirt?

unless there is some intricate pattern matching that will be disrupted, nobody will notice the change on an all over print shirt

Shortening or putting darts in the back shouldn't be a problem. Other alterations possibly could cause issues.
