FHello - bumping this question. I'm on
(a) How is it bypassing auth to sign in as my user when "Automatic Login" is disabled and
(b) Does that mechanism make it futile to create another user with apps/accounts installed locally. (I'm picturing "Return to Desktop" button signing into essentially a guest user from which I would auth into my real user if I want to do Linux-y stuff instead of game-y stuff.)
-deck-gnome and wondering if it's possible to boot into "Gaming Mode" without a password but require auth to get into desktop mode where e.g. all my accounts are signed in. Specifically I'm curious:(a) How is it bypassing auth to sign in as my user when "Automatic Login" is disabled and

FI vaguely recall reading that locking the screen was disabled on the Deck because some Gnome component was missing but maybe I'm hallucinating that.

FAnd being that bazzite fixes the biggest problems with the ally (windows being ass on handhelds) it will be huge

FI think he would have a very different experences with bazzite on the ally
FBeing that its actually targeted to the hardware and will have significantly less trouble than installing a more conventional Linux distribution
FAnd being that gaming on Linux is actually really good now. I think he will have positive experences with it

Lhonestly. i'm playing a game running on proton (90% sure at least) and i think it performs better on linux lol

I've seen the memes and I will always embrace them, but my love for Linux and virtual machines was built out of practicality and one that I hope a few more people adopt in the near future. Thanks for watching!

Lyeah it's stupid because i'm in cs and a lot of the work we do is based around linux, yet we need windows apps in order to do it?
FI had a setup where i could dual boot. But i could also boot the non booted OS in a VM at one point. It was pretty slick
