Hi guys, I am considering to buy a Rhino. However, I do have a few questions which I'd be happy to get an answer: 1.) I am using a CM3 base with all metal gimbal and extension and a hall sensor. It's very precise. How does the Rhino keep up with this (being mainly plastic and I think it has standard pots?); 2.) what are long-term experiences with precision?; 3.) how loud is the fan, once it's turned on?; 4.) is it possible to vibrate with every turn of a heli rotor.. like 387 rpm? 5.) Will I be happy with it in 10 years?; 6.) is a all metal construction planned?

The Rhino does not use "standard pots" for it's axes. It uses a pot, that is programmable to control gain or other settings. The axes are run directly off the motors, which gives them insane precision, on par with if not beyond a hall sensor. 2. I think the longest term owners are about a year, year and a half in, but these things are built like tanks. 3. the fan is small, so it's whiny more than loud, but I've never even heard mine turn on, you really have to push the unit to make it activate. 4. You should be able to set something like that up with TelemFFB. 5. If you're happy when you get it, you'll be happy down the line, I still own a CM3 which I use for HOSAS, and I would never dream of going back to using the CM3 for my main gimbal. 6. Probably not. These things are already beastly in lighter materials, and quite costly. Making it out of metal would increase weight and cost significantly, while providing no real tangible benefit (outside of all metal style martketing. The parts the count (the motors) are of course made of metal.

The only thing that might be beneficial to be metal is the gimbal and the small pulley, though only when using the strongest motors.

Also to the original commentor, keep in mind the gimbal is on ball bearings, so the 3d printed parts are only structural and I believe walmis said he has yet to hear of one break outside of some initial ones

Hello all, I have the overpriced POS Brunner FFB, off set gooseneck extension, Hornet grip. The Brunner is so weak, it CANNOT hold the stick centered. With the Rhino, it doesn't seem like it would have this issue, but then again, I thought the Brunner would be able to with their falsely claimed "6nm" of force. I put my name on the list to get one.... Also, does anyone know if it actually has force feedback in the Apache within DCS. Before anyone says anything, yes ai am FULLY aware the AH-64D has hydraulics and I would not feel the rotor system like you would in an R22. I'm talking about the ETL shutter or settling which causes the entire aircraft to have a notable shake.....

The Rhino can definitely handle heavier grips and extensions. the motors have a lot of power behind them. If for some ungodly reason you needed more, you could also grab a DIY kit with the bigger motors and run those.

For the Apache, @Number481 might be able to answer that, or even add it to a future build of TelemFFB, those kind of effects are generally run through that app

In the real world, if for any reason you start to settle, you have physical cues giving you a quicker response time. In the sim, it doesn't even register till you hit a vertical speed of about 3600

ETL, VRS, Rotor/Engine Vibrations, Ground bump/rumble, canon fire, rocket/missile launch.. these are all standard TelemFFB effects supported by all DCS helis.

What is not supported is any sort of autopilot or SAS following. The native FFB doesn't implement that and there just isn't enough telemetry data to try to do anything like that outside of the sim (like we do for the MSFS Airbus Heli's)

without counterspring flying the fulcrum the AP/stick couldnt keep up really it just oscillated like 30-40° left and then 30-40° right never finding the center with counterspring it seems to work

Cause the rhino is recommended with a max of 200mm, though the rhino itself is also raised from the center axis giving it the feel of a 100mm extension by itself

I myself am running a 500mm distance between axis and stick with the strongest motors and those are more than enough, i think I turned em down to 60% strength or so

I don't remember the exact measurements, but I can work with it since I know how to weld. I fabricated my entire collective mount because it was just to long to work well with my seat
