Oh, another thing is masking because of a conflict between yabridge and GNOME, but I believe systemctl should work the same - and it shouldn't be a thing inside a box anyway.

Systemctl works just the same yeah. Same with writing unit files, as they're all stored in /etc/, which is writeable

My bazzite seems to be fundamentally broken, sddm crashes on boot (which I can't manage with systemd because it just hangs), can't manually run kde via a VT, can't even turn the damn thing off without it then hanging with everything taking forever to stop

Try making a new user account and see if there are any issues present

I mean the issue happens before even logging in, just get a black screen with the mouse and EVENTUALLY an image of the sddm login screen shows (but you can't interact with it)
