NOnce the yafti stuff get a bit more mature i am happy to help. I am currently building new clusters and wouldn't mind playing around with our distro a bit.
NFor the systemd stuff its basically quadlets yes. I guess i still haven't gotten past the doing that on your own thing.
Nfor stuff like elastic search / Cassandra / <db goes here> i prefer to run them in systemd with their own drives etc.
NCSI's still take to much effort and eat to much iops

Systemd (quadlets like) with a selection addons with minimal cloud init. For kubernetes (immutable vms prebaked ready to be auto scaled away minimual usedata / no helm) with a add on selection. maybe even add a little gitops to the mix.
