That’s awesome to hear because I always hear such horrible things about them and I see people using pads and all sorts of stuff.

I think for chairs it also matters your body type.

I have a simple arcade type chair that fits me like a glove but would be horrible for a much larger type.

I’m 5’10 and 170 so I sit on the slimmer side and maybe that’s why the cheaper chairs don’t bother me as much as they bother other people.

So I guess it really also matters about your body type (and yeah how many hours will you be putting on the pad)

Age and… back issues aside lol

As far as I can tell I haven't seen any of these seats be anything but cheap, some manufacturers just charge more for them, bit like audio equipment in that regard, Don't have much size on you, just about 6' (183cm), albeit 210lbs (before breakfast

).
As for fitting the rhino, I just stacked some 2x4 to create a pedestal, and attached it straight to the floor with wood screws

haven't found the center cut out all that important, as I have mostly opted to go without an extension on the rhino.
And the Boeing pit center mount is so ridiculously high it served no function in the basic configuration.

I think the NLR chair is pretty comfortable…. the problem I have is the mounting required for the rhino in my rig places it right next to the front of the chair so the cutout does nothing for me…. joystick wise. I did mount a Total Controls ejection handle in the cutout so it does have some usefulness.

I swear the Boeing pit was designed with not much other than the tm warthog and TPR pedals, they somewhat can fit others, but thats mostly because of how standard the tm mounting solution is.

The chair isn't great out of the box for center mounts but you can do a lot with aluminum extrusions

Thanks! Shall give it a try - 1)so if I wanted to save my current settings assume I just hit export then make the changes to force trim and hit save settings? (Which saves these to the device even after rebooting?)2)so is this save settings required if u change other settings such as friction?(had assumed when u changed settings such as gain and spring force these would automatically come through on the stick without having to save anything)?

thanks - but just to be clear if you select or change a setting in the settings section such as hardware trim or friction - do you always have to store settings for it to be applied onto the stick? (what prompted this discussion was that I had selected hardware trim in the software settings but it wasn't showing up in DCS - perhaps because I had not hit the store settings button to upload it to the stick?)

Might be a strange question, but any drawbacks or positives in adding a 20 cm extension? I used it on my Virpil CM2 base. I’m rearranging my mounting, and now have the possibility to use the extension. Still not sure it’s worth the hassle. Anyone with experience? I mainly fly in DCS, both helis and planes.

many people use the virpil 20cm extension or similar, or the z-extension which ends up being somewhere around 120-150mm I think. Of course, the longer the extension, the less force it will be capable of at the grip.. but it works fine with that extension size for most people

Well that is disappointing. I turned my computer on and the Rhino slammed forward so hard into my "cockpit dash" that it broke my 3D printed TM grip adapter in two. That has not happened before.

I broke a VKB adapter with creative use of the configurator and although it was kind of annoying, I kind of think that if something is going to break, adapters are probably the least bad option
