RWell, as I understood it, it was a matter of the pins not making good contact with the patch. Made sense that elevating the patch by means of making a few small "sodder hills" would eliminate distance as a possible culprit.
And, again, for a while it worked. It was solid in the beginning. For some reason, it became more and more unstable, though, and now it's disconnecting several times every flight and I need to twist the grip some to get the connection back.

Naffirmative, no problems with MCGU
Non the other hand, I didn't really have issues either with MCGU on rev.b, only SCG
Nbeen using MCGU with a quick release clamp for grip fastener, hope to keep do the same on vpforce
ROh? What does that look like? Has it been good? I've only been using the default interface... with the aforementioned results :D

AI have a converted TM Warthog grip, I used a grub screw to be able to quickly release it from the VKB extension. Doesn't have twist either. However, I am contemplating modifying (3D printing) the twist base of my F14 grip to remove the twist and add a quick release.

I'd appreciate if someone could explain the process . I understand that the kit is supplied with motors and boards, but from where do I source the other parts or are there drawings/ files from which I can manufacture or buy them ? Is there options of materials, like metal or 3D printing and is the software readily available?
I appreciate that these will be obvious to some, but I've browsed the channel and still unsure . Thanks .

(I was in the same boat as you are three weeks ago was considering doing my own 3d print diy as there are loads of help around but found @SR-FWinger[73]_David can supply a kit of printed parts and all the little screws needed he even assembles the gimbal for you. Now here I am three weeks later with a fully built diy rhino installed and working, if you can follow an ikea build instructions or LEGO it’s as simple as that, even the electronics are simply plugging to correct plug into the correct socket

CWell base arrived yesterday, ( after a 9 months wait, a lot quicker than expected ) plugged it in and had a play, and if I’m honest while I enjoyed having the FFB it didn’t exactly blow me away. However spent the morning today going through the settings said here by various members and actually reading the manual. ( that helps by the way ).
Dialed in the numbers and OMG, this thing is down right amazing. The difference between just plugging it in, and actually taking the time to dial the settings in is night and day.
Just the feeling of the Huey made me realise this was the right purchase, but once I got into fast jets and turned on the G effects etc,
. Mind blowing.
Tomorrow is setting up warbirds, I honestly had no idea how much I was missing without FFB.

DI guess the FFB stick works wonders with the old gen airplanes without FBW

TWorks great for all but it doesn’t have as many effects for modern airframes like FA18 or whatever with FBW.
A lot of what you feel is similar to haptic pads to you get roadway rumble and gunfire echo and all sorts of effects you can fine tune (or disable) as well as just tuning how the “stick” feels with the various springs/dampner/inertia/etc type stuff you set up (also per module if you want)
So for some airframes like the F4 you feel A LOT of input (maybe to much) while others you just feel less but you never feel “nothing”.
You also get simulated G’s and just to much to even list but the modern airframes are still awesome with FFB.. just Awesome so imho you can’t go wrong with the Rhino no matter what your daily driver is

DIn that case I am gonna enjoy the F4 even more one day. Im generally more of a fan of the older birds. F4,14, A6, A7 etc. just need to survive through the long wait list
DI was sort of expecting something similar woth the stick im currently flying on (Simple Simpit) with that like „mechanical raw“ feel of the stick, but it just feels like a loose steering wheel on a bumpy road
TYeah man as a former pilot it’s as close as I’ve ever felt to the “real thing”… Sure you lack so much of the body feel or that seat of your pants floating thing but as far as pressure and stick sensitivities and how it shudders and limps out at/near stall conditions… how it pulls forward with a heavy G dip… It’s really well done and they keep updating it.

CThe F18 effects though are great. It feels like it’s FBW, certainly not as mechanical as the F4 or 14, almost feels like it’s on rails just as it should.
What did stun me, is when I tried stalling it, I actually got the stall protection cut in, and force the stick forward to build up airspeed. That was a Wow moment. Never had that before with the F18.
The F4 and F14 is just Raw. The shaking, and weight coming onto the stick as you pull more Gs. You guys have absolutely nailed this.

CAm certainly intrigued on how it’s going to handle the F16 though mind you. I do have a force base, but I’m not totally in love with it. So I’m wondering if it’s worth swapping the stick over to this base, at least once I get a adaptor. ( forgot to order the winwing one doohhh )

TYep EXACTLY omg… It’s those eye opening Wooooooooooow moments where it’s blown my mind over, and over, and over again that’s made me realize the Rhino is the real deal.
Also it’s crazy knowing how good it is while also being fully aware that they aren’t finished yet…
More and more keeps being “developed” and then new ideas become full fledged feature sets.
I’m so fortunate to be here watching as they make the best even better every single day and I truly appreciate all the guys who’s builds and ideas and input contributed to this masssssssive scale of a project that allows little old me… to spread my broken wings and fly again.
Also it’s crazy knowing how good it is while also being fully aware that they aren’t finished yet…

D200 or so days is about as half as I thought its gonna be so some good news it seems 
getting the kit though diy in 4 days is really great! Would do it aswell but atm woth my car project the 200ish days seems like its quicker than me actually finding time to build the thing myself. Kinda regret I didnt preorder it when the F4 was announced back last year, would be more or less here now The review of yours is what Im gonna do now since im bored to death at work

TDThat s actually helpful since I got lost searching for it lol. The unit looks really awesome! Too bad I dont have the 3D printer since I could use that for some other projects and not make everything out of metal. What do the green and blue rotaries do? Noticed something similar on the original from Rhino aswell. Do you adjust the strenght with it? Red one is I guess when the guests come to visit to the house and you turn the system off for safety? btw love the plaque!

The knobs are potentiometers that you can use to fine tune effects or to lower the forces you feel.
The first pot is set to Spring Force (default) so if you turn it off the stick just falls to the side and stays there and as you turn it, if you turn it all the way it springs the stick back to center by gradually ramping up the “spring force” BUT
In the software you can use a drop down menu to set the pot to work ANY of the specific forces. So it’s great for fine tuning things and finding that perfect spring tension how you like (which is also somewhat based on the weight of the stick you use as heavier sticks require slightly stronger spring settings)
It’s honestly such an extensive set up that unlike the other bases where you change out the cams and springs.. for this you basically tune EVERY single force to make it feel…. However you want.
You like a big dead zone? Easy… you like it stupid stiff so it barely moves without resistance? Also easy..
Are you like me and just love to test and test and test.. Do that it’s great this thing is stupid fun.
You don’t like the 22 degrees? Change it to 17 or 11 is quite popular with some extension users.
The rhino is seriously that bitch.. She’s seriously everything the other bases can’t be..
In the software the 2nd pot is disabled by default but you can enable it anytime and then you can tune two different things
The fun thing you can do with them is set the pots as Axis!

BI booted mine up and barely tested it, and first thought, dang I want another.

DI already can see that the waiting period is gonna be full of suffering and comforting myself with Rhino videos on youtube
FI don't know, I've not used short goosenecks before. I was just trying to find the right combination of height, stick position fore and aft, and throw. The Rhino gives you an effective extension from the off, so you don't need much extra, in my opinion (the z-ext is maybe 11cm?). I wanted to bring the stick back towards me - the massive box stops me bringing the whole thing back towards me, so the z-ext is great for that - plus it fits just over the seat base when pulled max back. Also you can choose your angle for the stick front to back . One thing that I don't hear talked about much is throw - if you put a long extension on, you end up with a huge throw, which is good if your base is on the ground, but not otherwise. I've got hardware restrictions in for (I think) +- 11 degrees left and right, and 8 forward, 14 back, and the stick feels exactly right for me. Obviously there's some sw setting up to be done, which can take a while...
