IMO glider would have no issues if it was placed somewhere much less reliable to acquire. Like some hidden areas, with their placement being randomized.

If the Glider didn't allow me to pump for altitude, I'd have stopped playing and never finished the game despite it taking 100 hours to do so.

I think its kind of OP too, but only if one seeks to go from point A to point B quickly. Say you want to go around exploring a number of areas for items, I think a golf cart is a better choice. Basically all I would do to balance the glider is limit is infinite flight potential.
