RSo this game mode is an entire different session, different environment right. So I can't just fire up spotify/discord/teamspeak/whateveryouwant and then go play a game in game mode, because it ends my desktop session.

Pif you don't plan on being a bonafide do nothing else but gaming person then there's no reason to limit yourself like that, and i suspect given your background you should know what needs to be done for games to run appropriately
