I'm new to arduino coding and we are tasked with making a smoke sensor that sends a sms message to a user when it detects smoke. One problem that we've encountered is that our gsm module 900a can't seem to find a network (the status LED blinks every second rather than every 3 seconds). How can we fix this problem?

I have not tried this before , but it will be helpful to check out the Quectel EC200 series AT commands documentation for detailed explanations of the +QMTCONN and +QMTSTAT responses, particularly error codes like "3" so you can find specific troubleshooting steps for this particular error code

The SIM900A seems to be limited to Asia, and only compatible with 2G.

Hi @accur4te If you don't mind could you tell us the exact instrument that you're trying to interface with ESP32 over RS485? Because you may need a salve ID/commands to communicate with the master microcontroller.

I guess you'll find the details about addressing scheme or the format of the data packets, including how to address specific devices (slaves) on the bus. So that you can write code for esp32 to read flow meter data.

Good news is we have another Engineering Hour coming up this Friday on getting started with Direct Memory Access (DMA) from @Edison @Edison_ngunjiri: https://discord.gg/7sJVtCyhSc?event=1250671812329607218. Now for the bad news, and sorry for the short notice—I've got a last-minute conflict so I won't be able to host Office Hours tomorrow morning, which breaks an almost 8-month streak!
