Zare you using the flatpak? I think gamemode comes bundled. But for me has been a hit or miss. Can manage to launch it with both the bundled and the daemon from host

KXIVLauncher works fine in bazzite, it has no requirement for gamemode
KOne of our earliest test suites
Zis referencing steam, and steam comes with gamemode in the rpm, so i would assume does as well in nix
KSteam gamemode and feral gamemode aren't the same thing
KSteam doesn't care one way or another if you have feral gamemode installed
KIt's why you have to add launch options to even use the thing
ZI think it steam gamemode (or bigpicture) is not a separate rpm

lsof may not give you the whole picture either, at times processes will hold on to file handles of loaded dlls, at other times they will let go once the library has been memory mapped. Its opening a can of worms if you want to go that route for investigating whatever it is you hope to find out
