I have a different system using the same exact cable and monitor and its running at 144hz with VRR(GCN 1.0) gpu

I imagine the 6700xt and 6600xt use the same connections for display out, and assuming you're seeing 144hz advertised in settings it should work.

Often even low-spec cards support absurdly high resolution/refresh-rate compared to what they could get in gaming just for the sake of compatibility.
