howdy folks. I'm thinking about switching my daily driver pc over to a linux distro, and this project is what I'm looking to trying. however, I do a lot of indie gamedev and need windows... a little bit. Mostly for testing and ensuring things work. Has anyone had experience with hosting a windows 11 vm and doing things like gpu passthrough or similar to play games on windows "natively"? Or is dual boot the only option i have here?

If you have dual GPUs like in a laptop it can be done, you'll have to reserve like an afternoon to learn how to do things since it isn't as straightforward as dualbooting.

Since Bazzite is an inmutable distros it has different ways to define things like kernel parameters and last time I did I tested on a normal distro.

It performs well for a VM, though you can't use your strong GPU for both Windows and Linux at the same time, you'd have to shutdown the VM.

Tbh I would just dual boot unless I have to use both OS on a daily basis.

It's a lot easier, but if you want to tinker your way through virtualization it's quite rewarding at the end.
