KI mean DSL is still a thing. We have it here, it's just slower than cable so I don't use it

KDSL functions like cable, Windows won't know it's DSL - phone line -> DSL modem -> Router

KI'm in Canada, in any big city you can get gigabit or even 1.5gbps. Rural, much less so.

Ti just upgraded to 60 megabits down 
JSame here for fibre connections. For cell network now we have cheap 5G so 400MBps is considered kinda mid option
Tthere's fiber nearby but they do not support the town i live in despite supporting the surrounding areas

JIn india is cheaper I guess. It starts around maybe $100/mo for gigabit lease line
JFor normal users it goes maybe upto 50USD/mo, we comparing different ppp so discrepancy
KI mean India is also far more densely populated, so it's more cost effective.
