there are downsides to small phones sure. but i tend to use it for phone calls and just before i go to bed, that's about it. if i need a camera i bring my rx100, or anything else i just bring a laptop with me

Super easy, have had one for 6 years now, the model I have can be dismembered (only the internal parts) and each parts cleaned separately.
