Hey all, so I've been using my steamdeck as a console in my livingroom for a while and am wanting more power. Search has led me to bazzite since SteamOS isn't available yet for a modern PC. That said, I'm thinking of building a console level powered machine that will give me better visuals than the deck. Yall have recomendations on builds? I was leaning towards an AMD RX 7900 GRE ... is that overkill? Does it work perfect with bazzite? Also curious what CPU to pair with it. Any tips?

It's all the same 'driver' on Linux. It'll be fine. The only time there's ever issues for AMD is when a card is brand freaking new and needs support added to the kernel/mesa. But the 7000 series are established enough you don't have to worry about that

I mean I have a 4k TV but am find with upscaled 1080p (if that's even a possibility). Honestly I'm coming from Deck on my TV so I'm just trying to get like PS5 level graphics

PS5 graphics is basically last gen AMD. If you want a build on a budget, you could probably go with something like a 5600x + 6700XT

ok thanks, I'll poke around more, appreciate you guys. Any other things to look out for as far as compatability? For example mother boards or chipsets to stay away from? Best/worst things for wifi or bluetooth to be mindful of?

If you can find a last gen 6950 xt they were 2.5 slots. They are solid and will be a decent upgrade over 6700xt for not much more.

only thing i'll say about a motherboard, is i honestly recommend one with a error readout. even if it's just leds and not numbers/letters

the number/letter ones are obviously better but the LED ones will at least let you know if something is cpu, motherboard, ram, or pcie related normally

been pretty happy with asrock stuff. asus makes some decent hardware but their rma track record is abysmal and were raked by gamer's nexus for it. no opinion on msi other than i have some of their nvme drives that are just micron drives with their sticker slapped on em (lol).
