Aafaik they take really minimal resources by themself to be negligible, you only need to worries about application inside it taking resources

JWsl is actually a proper virtual machine, very optimized and not isolated, but a virtual machine none the less

JIn some way maybe. Windows NTFS partitions are mounted as network drives and you can run gui apps inside wsl(very poor performance but possible)

JYea. The virtualisation magic is real with WSL2. It works very good. Docker is, as always, not so fast on windows
