CAs for the downsides, updates are currently a large download because of a limitation with ostree(which manages updates) that's being worked on. They shouldn't take more disk space though because you only keep two system deployments by default.

Jbazzite uses rpm-ostree but the distribution method is native containers which deltas aren't really working for right now, so you end up basically redownloading the whole system on updates
