I was watching a YTer who's a web dev (Theo) talking about the benefits of type safety in code their code, and how nice it is to change something and then immediately in other places where that code is uses it shows an error.

The video wasnt about this, but this was mentioned in the video.

I'm personally a fan of Theo but I just couldn't shake this from my mind: the thing he's acting so excited about and like it's so revolutionary is literally just code compilation. :kekw: Web dev discovers you can make your code NOT an untyped and unmaintainable mess, touts it as a game-changer. Meanwhile it's the single reason I avoid scripting entirely. Lol

There are still many javascript purists who don't wanna bother with TS and do manual type checking, or none at all (aka "in my mind")

TS is remarkably better than JS but it is only a suggestion because TS transpiles down to JS anyways

Well, compiler enforces type safety, but you can still just use "any" or "object" types

the idea that python is easier because 'it has no types'... except it has types but they are invisible and thus responsibility of the reader and writer

my game has a lot of different types, but also features in-game programming, and we're specifically using a duck-typed language to make it as easy as possible to write stuff quickly

honestly I don't know why Rust doesn't have a variant where it takes all of this information that it gets from the borrow checker, and automatically inserts best effort fixes as needed.
