the promise of having a completely new, easier pipeline for lighting isn't lost on them and the hope is that by the time it's ready we will have a generation of people ready to save time on their work by using it
the thing is, devs are going to have to do lighting both ways for a while and eat the extra workload to train themselves on using RT whether or not it makes it into games
because if it's used correctly the only way to tell is by having extremely good pattern recognition built up from decades worth of playing traditional games
the idea is that ten years from now when all the hardware still in use for gaming has RT by default (it will, they are just a big cluster of SIMD instructions)
