AMy only issue with discord is that it silos information away from search engines

P Right now, according to Synapse’s opt-in usage reporting, in total there are 111,873,374 matrix IDs on the public network, spanning 17,289,201 rooms, spread over 64,256 servers. until 2.0 is stable, federating your mirrored server etc. is basically shooting yourself in the footPbecause during sync you have to resolve everything you've networked to

Pyah that's been around for a bit. sliding sync isn't actually too far off being a part of Synapse.
Pthe VOIP stuff and sync taking ten years is the biggest stuff that prevents user uptake though

Pso basically without Sliding Sync your only option to keep your server usable is to prune content past a certain age
Pwhich means you pretty much either don't federate, or accept your server is going to get dementia over time
