Kthat is a question for nvidia. The drivers are closed source so there's absolutely nothing we can do to make them function

Mnevermind me but AMD eGPUs do not work here either (neither in gamemode nor desktop mode)

TMI am not nvidia fan myself but every vendor has its own issues. (especially in linux)
Tbut the other vendors at least have open source drivers
Mi wish i could use AMD proprietary driver at this very moment on my PC + TV 
Mjust ordered an adapter DP to HDMI. I will see. hopefully i can at least run 120hz over HDMI 2.1 (not even dreaming about VRR)

Ta long time ago, I had issues with having a Linux host automatically modify its resolution to match the client

KBy switching between desktop environments you risk all kinds of things breaking
