DYeah I have the same problem. Like you said it's due to Wi-Fi scanning. You can resolve it by setting the BSSID in the WiFi settings for the access point you want to use. Interestingly it's also a problem on MacOS
DIt should give you a drop down to select one in Gnome. I haven't done that one KDE
DBy setting the BSSID you prevent the scanning while connected to that access point
Bthat was the workaround some of the poor lenovo people with that problem posted
Bthey said it helped them. They were also helped by being closer to the AP so there were fewer low-signal-strength scans
