RAfter the newest bazzite update, I can switch between gaming and desktop mode without the visual glitch in the corner
OCompletely unrelated, but I was looking into issues relating to ld not being present in bazzite, which causes issues with compiling stuff with Cargo for instance. I ran across a github issue thread where Kyle himself mentions distrobox exporting(?) is a good approach, but now I'm running across library-related issues

OI guess I'll just run rust's toolchain inside distrobox entirely instead of directly on the host. That was clearly a bit of a mistake.
