BOMG same lol I literally even delete trash can off my desktop and just keep a widget in my taskbar for it
Gas a gnome user, I've heard stories of desktop icons by the campfire, but I think they're probably an urban legend
RImo a good start or overview menu, or even just pinning shortcuts to a panel/dock, eliminates most reasons why one would use desktop icons
RWith so many alternatives available, and with how desktop icons can be hard to see over your background and clutter it up, I just don't see why to use 'em
RMy KDE is essentially gnomefied
REven when I was on KDE Plasma, I didn't use desktop icons
ROnly thing I'm missing is a theme similar to adwaita
RWith every that I used KDE Plasma, it began to resemble Gnome more and more, until I just thought to myself "at this rate, why not just use Gnome" 
RSo I just switched to Gnome, haven't looked back really
KI never understood why Windows 7 moved to pinned applications and easy search from the start menu, and then kept the recycle bin icon
RI like gnome's workflow and apps but Nvidia doesn't let me switch just yet
KI even had an app to make a recycle bin in the taskbar so I could get rid of that last icon
KJust this very silly half-step they did

RWindows has so many obsolete features and outdated interfaces from earlier versions that it's kinda sad
RIt's getting better over time, but there are still a few stragglers

FWindows 10X was that, but they abandoned it, as it broke the core principle of Windows: compatibility & habits

RNow I have two panels and my KDE doesn't explode so there's that
RTbh, I experienced panel freezing even on AMD at the Plasma 6.1 release. That was right when I switched to Gnome though, so I didn't get to see 6.1 after the fixes
RI still saw a crash today but nothing serious
R6.1 was very rough overall
RLiterally, it was my first time in Bazzite either. I was asking my self if I did something wrong, I was about to revert back to Mint
ROnce gnome implements the things I need I would gladly switch

RYeah I had some issues with plasmashell crashing with Intel as well, seems to be fine now
RI'm using my work's Thinkpad with Bazzite KDE on a external SSD to play some games and stream Jellyfin to my TV, it's amazing now

RImo, KDE Plasma needs to be more open to delaying releases if major bugs are found. I won't tell them "just fix the bugs lel" because they'd need more contributors for that and it's rude, but rn many bugs are known before the release of a new major feature and in spite of that they're rolled out anyway
