Hey! That icon is from a very old version of Dash actually! Now in order to scatter things around an object, you need to open up the full Surface Scatter tool, scroll down to proximity masking and assign your object in there!

In order to update Surface Scatter, you select the scatter result, and click on the icon left of your circled on

quick question. I was checking my installed apps and seen "Dash" twice. Im guessing this is because the first time that I installed dash I only had one version of UE, now I have two so I had to re install dash. My question is do I need to keep both of these if I want them for both versions of UE or can I delete the first installation?

Yes! You can do that in two different ways:

1. You can manually search for Surface Scatter, Path Scatter etc and open up an empty tool and then assign the asset and surface, that exist in your level already to the tool.
2. You can also compute your own assets in the Dash Content Library, after you have done that you get the same drag and drop with CTRL functionality as you have with Megascans and Poly Haven assets in the Dash Content Library. By computing, I mean that if you open "Current Project" View in the Dash content library, you will see on the left your folders with assets, you can then choose one or several folders and compute them with our AI tagging system, doing this will make them appear in the Dash Content Libray. + as a bonus the assets will have AI tags, making them easier to find by searching for what you need

p.s, they UI in this video is from Dash 1.8 beta, but it will work the same way even if you are using official Dash 1.7

Fyi, most common reason for loosing tool connection is that one accidentally deletes the original mesh being scattered or the surface. But ofc you could have experiences a bug as well, if you get this issue more, just let us know and we can investigate with you!

1k should be fine! Ofc it depends on your hardware as well, but I know the user OxyggenCube managed to get good performance when he did this 8K map

Hey!
If you want to be able to access all your UE5 assets in all your UE5 projects, the best setup would be to add all those assets to one UE5 project, called "AssetStorage" for example. Then you open that project and tag all those assets with the AI Tagging system of Dash. Then the assets will be searchable and useable for all your other UE5 projects. And once you actually use an asset in the new project, it will get auto-imported.

We'll continue to have the Megascans library in our dropdown, and as long as Bridge works, it won't really change much

Once Epic fully moves to Fab, we'll make an update to ensure that Megascans content you download through Fab is available in Dash, too.

Hey Hey!

Yes kinda! Two methods I would recommend:

1. Select the scatter, search for Toggle Instancer Selectability. This will give you the ability to delete individual ones, but as soon as you change something in Surface Scatter etc, again, they pop back. (after enabling it, it might be a bit hacky to select one of the scatter assets, I needed to change a value in SS; before I was able to select a tree, not sure if it is an issue or a one-time thing just for me)
2. If you know otherwise you are 100% done with the scatter, you could convert it to UE foliage, and then you can brush away the ones you don't want with the foliage painting tool. This action is non-revertable though!

Hello. I'm trying out the vertex color modifier and i'm not getting the expected results. I also didn't find anything in the documentation regarding this. I have a mesh where i already painted some vertex colours and i'm using a material (Easy Mapper) with vertex blending. When i add the mesh to the tool and modify values for a channel I don't see any changes to the vertex colours.
