Hey guys!
I've seen this blog from Cloudflare, and I think it's a huge step forward the node ecosystem!
We now can polyfill and mock the non-implemented node packages very easily. However there is something I don't achieve to polyfill:

__dirname

__dirname

and

__filename

__filename

. Those variables are from the global scope and I didn't achieve to mock them though the

[alias]

[alias]

feature of the wrangler.toml.
Any idea?

In the blog I've shared, they talk about this new feature that allow us to mock un-implemented node functions

But it only works for functions, not variables!

In my case I want to set

. I tried to set it like the following:

But I got the following error:

Has anyone encountered this error: Route pattern must include your zone? I am sure that my route includes my zone, everything is the same as usual. It seems like the system has updated something, and the page UI is also different from before. I'm not entirely sure if this is the reason for the bug.

There's no such thing in AWS, I just run Playwright inside a Lambda function and it just works. I don't think you need any kind of special API, and I don't actually see this kind of API, I just see examples of running Puppeteer inside a Worker.

Also, how is the Cloudflare worker able to use the full Chromium? That's heavy af compared to this.

Advised memory is 1600MB, but a Cloudflare Worker has a limit of 128MB. In my tests with Lambda, the average memory usage is 500-900MB, so how is it even possible that Puppeteer runs fine in Worker?

because it's not running in the worker, your worker merely connects and proxies commands/etc to a puppeteer instance running externally on a cf machine. iirc they all still run in ORD unless that changed

I think you've mostly figured it out now, but yea Playwright indeed would be way too big in Worker's limits, Browser Rendering is Puppeteer but running on CF separate from your worker instance and using a modified puppeteer lib to make it all work, it only supports some stuff though. There is a channel for it #browser-rendering-api
